The Waunakee IDEA 2024 Comm(on)unity Scholarship
Individually we contribute, together we create a community!
Change for the better occurs when acts of kindness, humanity, and courage are shared with the community. Every action is important, no matter its size. The Comm(on)unity Peace Days Scholarship provided by The Waunakee IDEA is designed to recognize and highlight these contributions. We want you to share with us how your everyday actions have contributed to peace and common unity in our community.
In 2024, the Waunakee IDEA will award one scholarship of $500 and may award additional scholarships, dependent on fundraising. This scholarship opportunity is open to any high school senior graduating in the Spring/Summer of 2024, who demonstrates how their everyday actions have contributed to peace and common unity in our community.

🔷 COMMON QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Click on the following questions to view answers.
Q. Must I be in high school clubs or hold a leadership position in a youth group to be considered for this scholarship?
A. No. We believe everyday actions can impact lasting and positive change. While you may cite your participation in formal organizations, you needn’t have served as a member or formal leader in a school or community sponsored team or club or have participated in extraordinary service opportunities.
Q. Do I need to have a certain GPA or take certain courses to be eligible for this scholarship?
A. No. GPA will not be a determining factor, nor will we ask you about what courses you
have taken in high school. You do not need to be enrolled in a certain type of high
school courses.
Q. What if I attend non-traditional or alternative schooling?
A. If you attend an accredited form of school and reside within the Waunakee Community School District, you are eligible to apply.
Q. What are examples of service and leadership?
A. In addition to “formal” participation in clubs and larger activities, your everyday
activities can make a lasting impact, too. Some of the most influential leaders don’t hold
a leadership title. Examples include (but are not limited to):
Regular actions that you have taken - perhaps without even thinking twice - like helping your neighbor with a task, or supporting a peer who is having a difficult time, or standing up to individuals who are bullying someone.
Informal, yet organized activities that you planned out like gathering a group of peers to pick-up trash in your neighborhood or attend a gathering to show your support for others in your community or a cause.
Service provided on-the-job, in which you've gone beyond what was expected of you to help a customer or a co-worker.
